Essendon Fields Airport Refurbishment – Temporary Terminal Relocation

Phase one of the Essendon Fields Airport Terminal works has been completed, and construction on the second and final phase has now commenced. As part of these works it is necessary to temporarily relocate the main entrance and check in area of the Terminal to the Southern end of the building, adjacent to the Long-term Car park.

For the remainder of the construction works until the new terminal opens in early 2019, check-ins, departures, car hire and airport shuttle will operate from the Southern end of the terminal. Signage is in place directing passengers to the new temporary entrance.

This is the first major refurbishment of the Airport in more than 50 years and we look forward to providing updated amenities for our growing number of passengers to enjoy.

Essendon Fields Airport’s two regional carriers, Fly Corporate and Sharp Airlines, fly to 7 destinations:

  • Wollongong;
  • Dubbo;
  • Orange;
  • King Island;
  • Flinders Island;
  • Portland, and Warrnambool.

Please note that during these works the check-in process is the same, if you have specific questions regarding particular flights contact the airline directly.

While these works are underway the Airport Shuttle Service will still run its on-demand service to Melbourne Airport, you can book ahead by calling 0426 381 800. The pickup point has moved to outside the entrance of the Southern end of the terminal on Hargrave Avenue.

Hertz, Budget and Avis hire car desks are also relocating to the temporary terminal.

The taxi rank location on Hargrave Avenue remains the same during construction, as does the location of the Essendon Fields courtesy bus to Essendon Train Station.

Thank you for your patience as these works continue. We will continue to keep you updated of the progress. If you have any questions or would like further information about the temporary disruptions please contact: askme@ef.com.au.
